County Government of Kisumu has signed a communique to upscale Nurturing Care For Early Childhood Development-A smart start Initiative.

Graced by Governor H.E Prof Peter Nyong’o We held a successful Inception meeting at the Ciala Resort under Lake Region Economic Bloc and attended by 8 LREB first spouses, implementing partners, and the county executives.

Kisumu county is already doing a lot on child welfare,  we now come up with a Multi-Sectoral approach.

The Smart Start initiative promotes Nurturing Care for Early Childhood Development (NCfECD) focusing on the period between pregnancy with special emphasis on the first 1000 days of a child.

The initiative is seeking to initiate a whole of government approach towards investment for NCfECD through a ‘pull approach’. The ‘Pull Approach’ allows the government to take leadership that leverages the LREB platform in strengthening aspects of Nurturing Care per sector per the nurturing care Components. This will ultimately inform joint planning, better coordination, financing, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of the initiative
