Migori County Adopts the Smart Start Initiative-Early Child Development Program

Migori County adopts the Smart Start Initiative for Early Childhood Development. Today, we had an inception meeting for this program, marking the start of an exciting journey to help children reach their full potential.
At the meeting were the First Ladies of Kisumu, Siaya, and Migori, along with the Migori Deputy Governor, county executives, stakeholders, the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) secretariat and partners. We’re thrilled that under Lake Region Economic Bloc, we’re not just focusing on roads and buildings but also on nurturing young minds.
During the event, H.E Dr. Agnes Ochilo, the First Lady of Migori County, received a torch from Siaya’s First Lady, H.E. Betty Orengo, symbolizing the passing of the initiative. Together with other county leaders, they committed to making child development a top priority through leadership, funding, and community involvement and signed a communique’
“We’re determined to make sure everyone in the community feels a part of this initiative and to ensure its long-term success with proper financing and sustainability plans in place. We’re also excited to replicate the successful Smart Start Siaya-Nyathi en Mwandu model across LREB, which we believe will make a big difference globally.”-H.E Dr.Agnes Ochilo
